Senators Push Voluntary Telecom Cyber Rules After Salt Typhoon

Sens. Mark Warner and Ted Cruz introduced the Telecommunications Cybersecurity and Resilience Act on Thursday, creating a voluntary certification and best-practices working group within NTIA. It follows Salt Typhoon, in which Chinese hackers breached at least nine US telecoms including Verizon, AT&T and Lumen, accessing call records and intercepting audio and text of about 150 targets.
