US gives SandboxAQ $500M for chip materials AI

The US Department of Commerce awarded SandboxAQ $500 million in CHIPS Act funds to use AI simulation software for discovering domestic semiconductor materials. The Alphabet spinoff will develop PFAS-free chip materials, new catalysts, rare-earth-free magnets, and batteries without foreign-sourced lithium. The grant supports onshore manufacturing.
