GM Enters Grid Battery Race with Sodium-Ion Tech

GM announced a partnership with Peak Energy to develop sodium-ion battery cells for grid-scale storage. The chemistry offers lower cost, longer life, and wider temperature tolerance than lithium-ion, suiting stationary applications. GM has committed $900 million to commercialize new battery chemistries, including a new development center.
