GM partnered with Peak Energy to develop sodium-ion battery cells for grid-scale energy storage, not EVs. GM Ventures made a strategic investment and will develop cells in Michigan labs with exclusive manufacturing rights. Peak Energy claims its passively cooled platform can reduce storage costs by 20% versus conventional LFP systems.
