Shell, FAW Partner on Immersion-Cooled EV Truck Batteries

Shell and Chinese truck manufacturer FAW have co-developed an immersion-cooled battery pack for electric semi trucks. The system, tested on the Starship Hybrid concept, uses an insulating fluid for superior heat management. Validation shows up to a 98% increase in gradability, a 0.8% efficiency gain, and potential for 32% longer battery life. The technology will be showcased at IAA Transportation 2026.
