Discord Launches Global Age Verification

Discord began a global age-verification rollout today, sorting users into Adult, Teen or Unconfirmed groups using account signals. About 90 percent need no action; others can verify by credit card, app store, ID scan or video selfie. The plan was delayed in February after privacy backlash and a 2025 breach that exposed 70,000 users' government IDs. Co-founder Stanislav Vishnevskiy announced the rollout in a blog post. Brazil and Texas already require Discord age assurance. Teens face message and content restrictions, and can appeal.
