Netherlands Builds Linux Distro to Replace Windows

The Dutch government is developing a Linux distribution called Digitaal Autonome Werkomgeving Overheid, based on NixOS, to replace Microsoft Windows across government installations. A small group of Dutch government workers has already tested it. The move could significantly impact Microsoft, which sells OS seats and AI services to governments, and may spur a Linux version of the DigID authentication app.
