OpenAI Urges US-Led Global AI Standards

OpenAI is pushing the US to lead an international effort to set technical standards for frontier AI, including recursive self-improvement (RSI). In a blog post, it warned that fully autonomous RSI should not be pursued unless humans retain meaningful control. It proposed using national AI safety institutes in India, the UK, Japan, South Korea and elsewhere to develop shared benchmarks, risk assessments and incident reporting.
