Toy universe shows that time could be a quantum illusion

Giovanni Barontini at the University of Birmingham created a toy universe with 20,000 rubidium atoms to test if time is an illusion. By coaxing two sectors to exchange atoms, he defined an internal time from increasing entropy. The Schrödinger equation using this new time matched experimental results.
