OpenAI introduces the Grid Protectors Program to reduce data center energy demand during peak hours, currently testing the system in its Effingham County campus in Georgia. The company signed a 3.2-gigawatt agreement with Georgia Power including 1,000 megawatts of flexible demand response, enough to power 800,000 households or nearly 20% of the state's homes.
