The U.S. lost over 200,000 creative jobs in four years, with 50,000 gone in the last year, according to economist Joseph Politano's analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data. The decline spans film, TV, publishing, and graphic design, and coincides with generative AI's rise since ChatGPT launched in November 2022. Film and TV shed more than 100,000 jobs, nearly a third of its workforce.
