At PyTorch Conference North America 2026 in San Jose, Google and Meta open-sourced TorchTPU on October 21. This native PyTorch backend for Tensor Processing Units replaces PyTorch/XLA to simplify model porting. The launch includes four repositories and a preview agent suite for automation.
