Artificial synapse uses light-color programming for brain-like balanced learning

Researchers in Korea built a semiconductor device that uses light color to strengthen or weaken an artificial synapse's memory, mimicking the brain's balanced learning. The key ingredient is a material defect engineers normally eliminate. The study appears in Nature Communications.
