GitHub Is Becoming a Giant AI Code Dump

GitHub now hosts 630 million repos, with nearly half of all new code written by AI. Developer trust in AI code dropped from 77% to 60%. Carnegie Mellon found 6 million fake stars, and Socket uncovered 370,000 scam-linked fix stars. AI-written code had 1.7x more critical issues, and 45% ships with OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.
