Kenya probes hack of president's website after bitcoin ransom demand

Kenyan authorities are investigating a cyberattack that defaced President William Ruto's official website, president.go.ke, on Saturday, replacing the homepage with a ransom message demanding five bitcoins (about $317,000) and threatening to leak unspecified information. The government pulled the site offline, found no evidence of data theft, and restored it by Sunday. The National Computer and Cybercrime Coordination Committee (NC4) is leading the response.
