IBM cooled the first two modules of a new box-shaped cryogenic dilution refrigerator at its Poughkeepsie, New York facility, standing eight feet tall and wide. The modules, cooled below 15 millikelvin, will house Nighthawk processors later this year, advancing the 2029 fault-tolerant quantum computer goal and the Starling system.
