The US Marine Corps accepted six new F-35B stealth fighters carrying lead ballast in their noses instead of the AN/APG-85 radar. The APG-85 will not be available until 2028 and cannot operate at full capacity until 2031. Lot 17 redesign decisions eliminated compatibility with older radar hardware.
