China leads AI race in perception, not trust

A Public First poll of 18,000 people across 15 countries found a majority in 11 nations believe China leads the US in AI capability. However, trust does not follow capability: respondents trusted domestic models first, then Japan and the US, while China split opinion between strong trust and distrust.
