X-viewing services Nitter and XCancel have shut down following legal threats from X. X filed a cease-and-desist against Nitter in August, accusing it of unlawful API use and data scraping. Both services briefly returned in September but have now gone dark again, with Nitter's GitHub repository archived on September 11.
