JEDEC SPHBM4 standard cuts AI memory costs

JEDEC released the SPHBM4 standard (JESD330-4) to lower HBM pricing for AI processors. The narrow 512-bit interface enables attaching HBM4 DRAM stacks without advanced packaging, using inexpensive organic substrates instead of costly interposers. The standard does not relieve the DRAM shortage.
