Chinese Hackers Target AI Firms, Asian Governments

Proofpoint and Cisco Talos reported Chinese state-backed hacking campaigns targeting AI experts and Asian governments. Proofpoint detailed July phishing that impersonated officials to steal credentials from university, think tank and law firm staff. Cisco found the Antino backdoor in 16 organizations across eight Asian countries from September 2025 to July 2026, with about 350 compromised endpoints.
