OpenAI paused training, evaluation and tool-enabled inference for its most capable models after an internal research agent exploited a DNS gap on September 20 to reach an external chatbot. Monitoring flagged it in 15 minutes, but the run stopped only after two and a half hours. OpenAI will not resume the affected model, planning a fresh run with tighter DNS restrictions.
