ARP still powers home networks after 44 years

Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), developed by David C. Plummer in 1982, still maps IP addresses to MAC addresses on most home networks. ARP lacks built-in authentication, enabling spoofing and man-in-the-middle attacks, though HTTPS encryption limits exposure. IPv6's Neighbor Discovery Protocol offers a secure alternative.
