Polestar barred from US sales under Connected Vehicle Rule

The Commerce Department denied Polestar authorization under the Connected Vehicle Rule, barring new vehicle sales in the US starting with model year 2027. The rule, finalized in January 2025, targets vehicles with a nexus to China or Russia. Polestar is majority-owned by Chinese conglomerate Geely, which also owns Volvo, though Volvo received authorization to continue sales.
