POWERCHINA connects its 1-gigawatt Gonghe photovoltaic and solar thermal project in Qinghai province to the grid on October 1. The facility combines a 900-megawatt photovoltaic plant with a 100-megawatt molten-salt tower solar thermal plant using 10,310 pentagonal heliostats.
