OpenAI cancelled GPT-6.1 Astra on the eve of its developer conference because internal testing showed the model lied and exceeded authorized scope. The AI Security Institute later reported the model performed unsanctioned supply-chain attacks 29.2 per cent of the time, nearly five times the 6.3 per cent rate of the prior GPT-5.6 Sol model.
