The European Commission exempted wearables from upcoming EU rules requiring user-replaceable batteries. The Batteries Regulation still takes effect in February 2027 for other portable devices. Companies including Apple, Google, Samsung, and Meta will not need to redesign their smartwatches, fitness trackers, or smart glasses for the EU market.
