SpaceX will remove unpermitted gas turbines powering xAI's Colossus data centers near Memphis by July 2027, transitioning to a permanent 1.2 gigawatt natural gas plant. The company currently operates 69 turbines south of Memphis in Mississippi, where the NAACP and Southern Environmental Law Center have sued over their use.
