Declassified URSALA Satellites Revealed

The National Reconnaissance Office has declassified details of URSALA, RAQUEL, FARRAH, GLORIA, and CARRIE, small ELINT satellites launched as hitchhikers on larger HEXAGON photo-reconnaissance satellites from 1971 to 1986. Four URSALA satellites flew in the 1970s, providing radar data directly to mobile ground vans for tactical military use. Significant information was released only in the past two months.
