The Union government ordered removal of BAT-BMS, Epoch-i-ion, and Lossigy from Google Play Store and Apple App Store. These applications communicate with Bluetooth-enabled battery management systems in lithium-ion packs to monitor health or cut power remotely. Security concerns arose because vulnerable aftermarket battery systems lack default passwords allowing anyone within 10 to 15 metres access controls that toggle master discharge functions effectively rendering vehicles inoperable.
