Meta contractor flushed rare bacterium into Cheyenne water

Cheyenne suspended all data center wastewater discharge after Goat Systems, a Meta contractor, flushed Cupriavidus gilardii into the city's reuse system. The bacterium shut down two reclamation plants for months. Meta supports general contractor Fortis, which stopped discharging and began hauling wastewater offsite. Independent testing found no trace of the substance.
