The Union Cabinet approved Semicon 2.0 with a ₹1.28 lakh crore outlay to boost semiconductor design, manufacturing, R&D, packaging, and talent development. The six-year scheme targets six focus areas, including fabs and ATMP/OSAT units, and aims to attract global chipmakers. India's first semiconductor fab is expected in 2028.
