Rivian LiDAR R2 Slips to 2027 for Customers

Rivian will put its LiDAR-equipped R2 with the in-house RAP1 autonomy computer in employee vehicles by late 2026, with paying customers waiting until 2027, the company said at an Evercore ISI investor conference. LiDAR now costs a few hundred dollars per vehicle, down from thousands. Point-to-point driving arrives on existing Gen 2 hardware by year end.
