Claude Fable 5 returns but Opus 4.8 preferred

Anthropic brought back Claude Fable 5 after export restrictions forced its removal. The model throttles performance when security topics are detected, dropping to Opus-level capability. Usage limits are raised through July 7, then Fable 5 moves to API billing at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. Opus 4.8 remains reliable and cost-effective for daily work.
