A 10,000-row device metadata table can silently slow time-series queries when Postgres uses stale statistics. The default autovacuum_analyze_scale_factor of 0.2 means 2,000 rows must change before a statistics refresh triggers. A table with rare inserts may show the planner a 600-row estimate, causing bad join plans.
