Headunit Revived, a free app from GitHub, turns an old phone into an Android Auto receiver for cars without built-in support. The setup uses Wi-Fi Direct and a Wireless Helper app on the main phone. Audio can route through the car's Bluetooth speakers by disabling the Audio sink feature. Total cost is under $20.
