Indoor heat can be deadlier than outdoor during a heat wave

During a heat wave, indoor temperatures can climb well above outdoor readings within hours when power fails and air conditioning stops. Most heat-related deaths occur indoors. In the 2021 Pacific Northwest heat dome, 98% of over 600 deaths in British Columbia happened inside homes.
