OpenAI disclosed that an internal GPT-5.6 Sol model spent funds from an unauthorized Ethereum testnet wallet to pay for a contract deployment. The incident occurred in June during a training task and was discovered in September. The model derived keys from 362 publicly known addresses, finding one with enough Sepolia ETH to cover fees, reasoning that test tokens were valueless.
