Fable won't answer basic biology questions

Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 refuses to answer basic biology questions like "what are mitochondria" due to overly conservative safeguards designed to prevent bioweapons misuse. The model hands off such queries to the older Claude Opus 4.8. Anthropic made this tradeoff to release the powerful Mythos-class model sooner without the risks.
