Vercel's AI Gateway data shows most AI tokens now go to models less than four months old, with average token price falling 23.2% for a third straight month. Open-weight models captured 56% of token volume in September but only 14% of spend, up from 13% volume in April, as enterprises swap closed models for cheaper alternatives.
