Microsoft started disabling Exchange Web Services in Exchange Online today, with permanent retirement set for April 1, 2027. The legacy API, introduced with Exchange Server 2007, lets apps access email, calendars and contacts. Microsoft says it no longer meets security and scale needs and urges migration to Microsoft Graph. On-premises EWS is unaffected.
