China published GB 44721-2026, its first mandatory national safety standard for L3 and L4 automated-driving systems. The standard covers dynamic driving tasks, human-machine interaction, user notices, safety assurance, and remote assistance. It applies to passenger and freight vehicles and takes effect July 1, 2027, replacing the 2024 recommended standard.
