Germany approves AI Safety Institute modeled on UK's AISI

Germany's National Security Council approved the DE-AISI, an AI safety institute modeled after the UK's AISI. It will test frontier models from Anthropic and OpenAI for security risks. Germany remains dependent on US and Chinese AI technology as the EU lacks its own frontier models.
