FAA Trials AI Air Traffic Tool at Three Airports

The FAA and DOT began trialing SMART, an $875 million AI system, at Reagan National, Dulles and BWI airports. It consolidates 200 data streams to predict delays and advise human controllers, not replace them. The controllers' union says it was not consulted. The FAA plans gradual expansion to more airports.
