UK Study Visa Applications Drop 16%

UK study visa applications fell 16% in the year ending August 2026, with 360,700 applications from main applicants. Student dependant applications dropped 22% to 17,000. Health and Care Worker visa applications declined 65% to 7,600, and Skilled Worker visa applications fell 43% to 26,900. The Home Office linked the declines to increased employer scrutiny and immigration rule changes introduced in 2024 and 2025.
