Rivian sued over self-driving promises for Gen 1 vehicles

A class action lawsuit alleges Rivian falsely promised hands-free, eyes-off driving for first-generation R1T and R1S vehicles. The complaint claims Rivian knew the hardware could not support Level 3 autonomy. Second-generation vehicles received Universal Hands-Free in December 2025, but Gen 1 models never will.
