New Signature Forgery Attack Weakens RSA Encryption

Researchers have demonstrated a classical-computing attack that forges RSA signatures without factoring keys, cutting the effective security level and required resources by orders of magnitude. The paper, co-authored by UC San Diego professor Nadia Heninger, identifies a gap in RSA security assumptions and argues it is evidence for abandoning RSA during the post-quantum transition.
