Researchers at Keio University led by Mingyang Xu, in collaboration with MIT Media Lab, unveiled a floating companion robot prototype. The lighter-than-air robot uses small fins instead of propellers, glides silently, and performs tasks like waking users and delivering reminders. It draws design inspiration from Tinker Bell, Pokémon's Mew, and Studio Ghibli's Soot Sprites.
