Unpatchable BootROM exploit targets A12 and A13 Apple devices

Researchers at Paradigm Shift disclosed usbliter8, an unpatchable BootROM exploit affecting Apple devices with A12, A13, S4, and S5 chips. The attack requires physical USB access and DFU mode, allowing arbitrary code execution before iOS loads. The Secure Enclave remains unaffected, keeping passcodes and encrypted data secure.
