New Attack Weakens Textbook RSA Encryption

Researchers at UC San Diego and Inria Nancy published a paper claiming a new attack that breaks textbook RSA in record time, cutting operations needed to crack 1024-bit keys from 2^80 to 2^65. The attack targets a variant used in Cloudflare Privacy Pass, iCloud Private Relay, and hardware security modules. Peer review is pending.
